Over twenty years of the collected interest and expertise in music, art and technology have coalesced into the LA-4A project. The artist name itself honors audio hardware and the sound focuses on the technologies that helped forge electronic music’s futurism in the early days of the genre. LA-4A, simultaneously known as Ambivalent, has quickly forged an identity by making an acid-inflected, electro-tinged brand of “roots techno” through DJ sets at the most prestigious dancefloors and productions played by the genre’s most advanced selectors.
The LA-4A project and his label Delft have been a quiet success story since their inception in 2013. Regular fans now include Ben UFO, Bicep, Scuba, Mosca, Rodhad, Erol Alkan, James Zabiela, Nina Kraviz, Mike Servito, Josh Wink, Joy Orbison, Blawan, Martyn, Alex Boman, Jimmy Edgar, Eats Everything, Deetron, Magda, Laurent Garnier, Locked Groove, Gregor Tresher, Slam and many others.
With 2016’s full-length album “Phonautograph” as well as releases on Unknown to the Unknown, remixes on Hotflush, DFA, Born Electric, Club Lonely and more, the project continues to expand. DJ sets by LA-4A continue to gain renown from appearances at Berghain, Concrete, Output, The Bunker NYC, Dommune, Roman Flugel’s Sister Midnight parties and more.
