When Terry Francis and Nathan Coles started throwing parties, it was pretty much a reaction to their circumstances. Already committed to London’s fledging acid house scene, and both influenced by rare groove and up-tempo soul, they wanted to do something off their own backs, just for their mates, with DJs they liked and Evil Eddie Richards was one of them, so much so, they made him a resident. Over a decade later the trio are still in the rudest health, noising up nightclubs with that same simple ethos, while Wiggle – the catch-all term covering record label, clubnight, artist name and attitude – has also come to typify a style of music; a deep, druggy basement-shaking sound that nicks techno’s swagger and steals house’s smile. DJing together all over the world, the pair are bang in the middle of an industrious community of producers, all excelling at making music to escape in and get down to.
Wiggle has long held a special place in the hearts of the underground community while ascending the height’s to it’s present incarnation, being responsible along the way for the birth of a sound that now dominates mainstream clubbing. Held initially on a monthly basis at a variety of often secret locations and promoted strictly through word of mouth, the club has grown and developed through it’s policy of promoting the original ethos of the acid house movement; it’s sound system booms, the decor is wild, it’s atmosphere unpretentious, where absolutely everybody is having a great time and with it’s own unique sound of deep house and techno stepping out and getting hammered. Wiggle is a night like no other and has consistantly been ahead of it’s time in a whole host of ways.
Guest djs at Wiggle have included Evil Eddie Richards(resident), Layo & Bushwaka, Richie Hawtin, Pure Science, Richard Grey, Mr.C, Gideon Jackson, Femi B, Corrie, MrG , Clive Henry, The Freaks, Big Hair, Little Mike, to name a few.
Wiggle currently resides at Fabric, while still putting on the underground nights they famed for, as well as featuring special ‘one off’ events in Croatia, Bulgaria, Belgium, Greece, Prague and frequent Wiggle tours of America. Wiggle proudly entered it’s 13th year with a Wiggle CD launched on the Fabric label followed by a world tour.
