‘HORZ’ – A Tribute to Roy Avni (ft. Mason)

Roy was a good firend of ours and is dearly missed. We are very proud of our contribution to his tireless work, building the scene in Holland and beyond.

“Last summer our friend and Electronation founder Roy Avni died way too young, aged 42. Just weeks before his passing he made one of his life goals come thru: to go into the studio and record the idea he’d been walking around with for a long time.

That idea ended up to be ‘Horz’, which he finished a few weeks later with the help of Mason. We are very grateful towards our friends at Manual Recordings for all the help in releasing this special project. This single is now released through their label as a tribute to Roy and everything he did for the scene!

A big part of the income on this release will go to the Fight Cancer fund, so be sure to help us out and promote by buying this release or by posting the Soundcloud player on your Facebook wall or Twitter. Perez Hilton tips Mason and Roisin Murphy

Showbiz blogger extraordinaire Perez Hilton has posted Mason’s latest collaboration with Roisin Murphy on his site. We’re not quite sure how this happened but thanks all the same Perez!!!

The collaboration between the dynamic Dutch duo and the Irish chanteuse has had major hits on Mason’s Soundcloud as well as the Perez blog and seems to be spreading like the clap in cyberspace!

The track, ‘Boadicea’ is currently has been remixed by Danny Howells & Mat Playford, Evil 9, Tony Senghore and Mason themselves and is set for a release early in the new year.

Here’s another musical departure for Amsterdam’s ‘Mason’. Proving once again that they can turn their hands to anything, here comes a heavy disco rub with a sampled hook catchier than an outbreak of E.coli in a hot kitchen.

Taking slices of Eruption’s cover of the classic Del Shannon 60’s song, “Runaway”, Mason modernize and bastardize at will. Iason and Coen chop up the original hooks like Ken Hom with a cleaver and bind it to a groove that will have necks aching with funky head nodding.

This chunk of schizoid kitsch will be creating havoc with the funkier dance floors for the rest of the Summer and is already getting massive support from the likes of Steve Aoki, A-Trak and Boris Dlugosh.

In typical Animal Language style, the ‘flipside’ is in complete contrast. The rodent themed ‘Let’s get Ferretic’ is a paen to our trouser climbing, rabbit hunting furry friends. Indeed, this track is as mad and random as a sack full of ferrets. With its jacking beats and weird descending and ascending lead lines its like the mentally disturbed younger brother of ‘Runaway’

Of course this wouldn’t be an Animal Language release without the traditional ‘Refurb™’ taking the lead track in an utterly different non-dance floor direction. This time around Mason head into the ganga smoke filled territory of dub reggae with a Lee Scratch Perry influenced interpretation. Random, but effective!.
