The last 12 months haven’t seen the Knights twiddling their thumbs however, in fact they’ve been busier than ever.  Their retrospective album ‘Inland Bites: Knights Classics’ was a huge success at the end of 2010, while Drop Music’s forward-looking ‘House Bound’ compilation, to which the IKs and Larry Fives each contributed a track, is getting people similarly excited right now.  Add to that a Loopmasters sample pack, a single for Trendy Mullet and remixes of Phil Weeks (on Robsoul), Howard Sessions (on Lost My Dog), The Littlemen (for their 10 year compilation) and DustyFruit (on Rebel Hill) and pile it all on top of a hectic worldwide DJing schedule.  The only conclusion is that Larry Fives and Inland Knights are very much still at the forefront of underground house as they have been for the last decade!

With the last Drop Music outing still riding high in DJ charts and sales charts, the Nottingham based label are back with a fresh instalment and a producer from the other side of the world.  Australian Sonny Fodera delivers his second EP for Drop, following the three track ‘The Beatdown EP’ in 2009.  His two original tracks here on ‘Road Kill EP’ stay true to the classic bumping house sound of the Midlands, while exploring further into funky and soulful areas.  Label bosses Inland Knights provide a remix, working the vocal as only they can over a devastating groove.

Hailing from Adelaide, Australia, Sonny Fodera’s story is starting to gain momentum; having started making music at a young age he has established himself as one of Australia’s premier deep/jacking house DJs and a highly related artist/producer/remixer.  As a DJ, his signature sound showcases smooth technical wizardry combined with a music selection geared to satisfy even the most discerning house music listeners.  As a producer/remixer, Sonny continues to exploit his raw musical talents and ever expanding skills. He has released on top house labels including Drop Music, Salted Music and Guesthouse, quickly gaining support from the industry’s most respected names such as Mark Farina, Derrick Carter and Mastiksoul. “Ed Rush & Nico’s ‘Defect’ was originally released in 1996 on the No U Turn label as the flipside to ‘Mothership’ and featured on the classic ‘Torque’ compilation album. No U Turn not only influenced a generation of drum & bass producers but the label’s sound also resonated with techno producers around the world and that influence can still be heard today.

First up is Belgium’s Peter Van Hoesen. Peter’s rise up the techno ranks has been unstoppable since the 2008 launch of his much-respected Time To Express label. Peter’s mix is everything you would expect from his current style, a bass-driven, dubbed-out excursion that retains the paranoid atmosphere of No U Turn yet melds it with his own bleeding-edge techno sound.
Perc is currently receiving a lot of attention thanks to his ‘Mathlete EP’ on Josh Wink’s Ovum imprint picking up huge support from the terraces of Ibiza to the basements of Berlin. From a typically percussive beginning snippets of Defect’s pad and drone sounds are introduced until the mix hits a breakdown to match Perc’s biggest tracks including ‘Up’ and his remix of DJ Hell’s ‘ Buttersaure’.
