Inland Knights

DJ’s, Producers and label owners, Andy Riley and Laurence Ritchie (AKA Inland Knights) have created a brand name that most House heads have heard of. Whether you like it deep , techie or more funky – when you think about Drop Music or Inland Knights a certain style of House comes to mind that is uniquely their own. Andy and Laurence’s reach is global, and their label’s continue to produce some of the finest House music 28 years after they started back in the UK, within Nottingham’s legendary party scene.

PAST

The Inland Knights Duo was born in 1998, emerging from years of deep involvement in the UK free party scene.

Two seasoned DJs—each rooted in neighbouring free party sound systems—came together to evolve their love of house music beyond just spinning vinyl and throwing underground events. That same year, the now-legendary Drop Music label was founded, driven by an unshakable passion for house and a desire to create music with substance and soul.

What followed was a prolific production output of distinctive, groove-laden tracks that resonated across the global house scene. Then, now, and always.
That momentum opened the door to years of international performances, taking the Inland Knights sound to clubs and festivals across the globe.

As both DJs and producers, Inland Knights have earned respect worldwide—regarded by many as pioneers, legends, masters of their craft. Their honest and pure sound has shaped dancefloors and influenced minds for over 25 years—and they’re still going strong.

From underground muddy free party fields to BBC Radio 1’s Essential Mix, from Fabric to Tomorrowland, they have spanned the scene as DJs for over two decades. Whilst their timeless productions and the Drop Music catalogue remain in rotation among many respected DJs to this day.

More than 25 years on, Inland Knights feel more relevant than ever—a national service to house music.

PRESENT
This year, alongside strong support from numerous high-profile DJs featuring Inland Knights tracks in their sets, Drop Music celebrates its 25th anniversary with a special three-part vinyl series. The collection showcases standout Inland Knights classics from their extensive catalog, alongside brand-new productions. The first two releases topped the site-wide charts on Juno Records, with the third installment still to come.

Inland Knights also recently delivered a remix for Fleur Shore, who named them her “heroes” live on BBC Radio 1’s Heroes show. Fleur was adamant they were her top choice for a remix—and they delivered. And played a one hour Inland Knights exclusive set on radio 1.

DJ Peach on NTS just ran a one hour deep dive on Inland Knights, featuring a mix of exclusively Inland Knights productions.

Shout-outs from Chris Hawkins on BBC Radio 6, and ongoing support from DJs around the world who’ve followed the duo’s journey since day one.

To mark the label’s milestone, Drop Music will host a 25 Years of Drop Music party this August—a celebration of the label, its artists, and the extended community that’s grown around it. A coming together of people spanning decades of underground culture, united by house music and a love of the dancefloor.

Following an iconic gig in New York, Inland Knights are set to perform with vinyl at the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland this summer, following Moodymann’s headline set there last year. They’ll also be appearing at Beat-Herder and Equinox Festival alongside long-time friends and collaborators.

FUTURE
Legends. Timeless. Iconic. Pioneering. The DJ’s favourite DJ. Masters of their sound. Pivotal in the history of house.

Past present and Future. These are just a few of the words fans, high profile DJs and fellow artists use to describe Inland Knights.

As for the Knights themselves? With more remixes and productions in the pipe line. They let the music do the talking. That’s what matters most.
